Service Line Inventory

Notice: The City of Ghent has completed and submitted our service line materials inventory to the Minnesota Department of Health. The service line inventory is publicly available, and you can check the materials for your service line by visiting the Lead Inventory Tracking Tool (LITT) at https://maps.umn.edu/LSL/ you may also contact us at 507-428-3214 or email at [email protected]. To complete the service line inventory our system evaluated construction record drawings and performed visual inspections. As of 8/26/2024, our inventory contains 0 lead, 0 galvanized requiring replacement, 143 unknown material, and 54 non-lead service lines.

On 11/20/25 the City of Ghent sent notification to all residents that had any portion of their water lines "unknown".  Please note that the city has strong confidence that the utility side water lines are "non-lead", however we need to identify them as "unknown" because of lack of the required doumentation.  Also know that the City of Ghent plans to start work to replace all of our water lines along State Hwy 68, all lines to the North of State Hwy 68, and along Lyon Sounty Road 5 South in 2026.  When this work has been completed, the utiltiy side will be changed from "unknown material" to "non-lead".  Since your customer-side has been inspected and know to be "non-lead", no action is required at this time.
