Sanitation & Recycling

Solid Waste Collection: The City of Ghent contracts with Southwest Sanitation for solid waste collection.  All residents within the community are required to have garbage collection.  The City of Ghent offered three sizes of garbage containers; 35 gallon, 65 gallon, or 95 gallon.  See fee schedule for current pricing.  You may contact the city office at any time to change the size of your container.  Garbage is collected every Wednesday.  For specific questions regarding garbage pickup or to see the holiday pickup schedule please click on the link below to access Southwest Sanitations website.  

Recycling: Recycling is managed by Lyon County Environmental Office in Marshall.  They contract Southwest Sanitation for recycing collection.  Recycling is collected every other Wednesday.  For specific questions regarding recycling pickup or to see the holiday pickup schedule, please click on the link below to access the Lyon County website.  

CART PLACEMENT: Please place your carts property as indicated below

• Place your carts out the night before pickup
• Don't bag recycling
• Make sure there is 3' between your gabage and recycling carts and other objects
• Pickup will occur between 3 am and 6 pm on Wednesday
• Garbage is collected every Wednesday and Recycling is collected every other Wedensday
